When were you in the Navy?

    1994-1999, HM3 8404, did some time up in Adak, Alaska and finished up in Millinton, TN.

    So you will be an ET or FC. I am glad I didn't get to pick because I would have gone FC and didn't find out till later that ETs get WAY better shore duties. Both are excellent rates. I am ETSN as of the moment and will be ET3 in less than a month. Enjoy spending 12-18 months in Great Lakes IL. You could get really lucky and spend two extremely cold winters there like I did. If you have any questions on what to expect from boot camp, Great Lakes, and when you will actually advance E-4 PM me. Great Lakes is terrible but will be worth when you see how good our rate has it compared to the other ones.

    BTW dont listen to ANYONE about ANYTHING who hasn't at least gone through boot camp.

    1979-1983 Reported to boot camp 10 days after craduating high school. Served with VA105 out of Jacksonville, Fl. cruised on the Kennedy, injured while off duty and medically retired in 1983. Bombs Away!:wavey:

    USS Saipan LHA 2, now decommissioned. Ouch

    USS Abraham Lincoln, CVN 72 (Plankowner)

    2.5 years shore duty at Naval Security Group, Northwest in Chesapeake, Va. Now closed.

  9. Navy Corpsman, HM2, with 2 years at the Naval Hospital Portsmouth Va, and remaining time with the 2nd MarDiv HOOOO YAAA.

    Enjoyed retirement for a while then went and got married and a masters in nursing lol. Now I'm both an ER nurse for 2 12 hour shifts per week and a travelling RN for the remaining 3 12 hour days of the week. The wife is an MD and we both work for the same hospital system.

    Hi everyone,

    1966-1968 USS Hancock (CVA-19)
    1968-1970 USS Coral Sea (CVA-43)

    Unfortunately, both of these fine ships has been scrapped. Made 4 tours of Viet Nam. Both ships were homeported in Alameda, CA.
