When did the Rangers change the color of their beret?

I just saw the commander of the Ranger school on Fox News wearing a tan beret. I thought it was ridiculous when the black beret became uniform headgear for the Army at large but I was unaware the Rangers had changed the color of theirs.

    So when did this happen?

General Shinseki got big army to switch over to the black beret in...2001 or 2002. Ranger regiment wanted to remain unique and switched about the same time.
