(Couldnt find a topic on this)
I'm a county deputy and have a gold 7 point star with a silver ring around the outside. At 3" in diameter it kind of feels like a hubcap, but I think it looks good.

Is there any history behind your agency's choice?

In Ohio, the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association (BSSA) determines the uniform regulations for Sheriffs, and Deputies. We use a gold five point star, with the county name, and unit number.

No history that I'm aware of. I'm in Missouri, and it seems most every sheriff's office has a different style badge.

I always thought that was the best looking badge out there.

    Chinese throwing star!

7pt silver. Looks good, but I really dig the traditional 5pt with 'balls' at the points.

  9. On how it's made my father's dept badge was the one they made. Monmouth County Sheriff's Department.

Nice. That was one of the few episodes that I saw.

  11. Our badges are made by C. W. Nielsen, model C-11 as I recall. Sgts and up get gold badges, including detectives. This seems to be a pretty common shape around the state.

Check out my avatar for the last badge I carried. Before that I wore the following NYPD shields; patrolmen, detective, sergeant and lieutenant.

    Proud of them all.
