I posted this in my 1911 thread, but got no response.

Upon field stripping my 1911 for the first time, I noticed that the dust cover has some really weird splay at the end of it.

Now I'd expect this from a Glock, but from a steel 1911, I thought it was a bit weird. I'm not sure what to do with it. It doesn't seem to affect anything, and the pistol functions just fine, but it looks weird.

Should I go through the process to get it replaced? Or should I just shoot it. And if I do return it, should I contact Armscor? Citadel? Or galleryofguns.com, where I ordered it.

I would maybe email where you got it from with a picture attached and they could probably tell you what to do from there.

You have more info here than the 1911 forum I answered you in. What I would do is contact Armscor which I have no doubt would have a replacment gun sent to you ASAP upon receiving that monstrosity. I defiantly wouldn't just keep it no matter how reliable it is unless you like to express yourself with some flare......oookay?

This is not a rag on you at all OP, but its funny that nobody seems to realize that phone numbers exist anymore. Everyone wants to text, tweet, blog and e-mail instead of talking with someone. :tongueout:

Actually a Glock is the pistol I'd least expect it from....that pic makes me want to put it in a vice.

Except for the fact nearly every Glock under the sun has an upturned dust cover.. :whistling:

To my knowledge, I'm the only one that has this problem, out of the thousands of other armscor products out and about.. :(

You mean they don't have a facebook page? Get with the times!

Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call and see what can be done.

Did not mean for my comment to have sounded like it did,.....apologies.
I guess nearly every manufacturer has a few slip out the door that are
not quite up to the best QC standards.

Armscor will take care of you,......ask for help and explain your concerns,
try not to demand they fix it

I was thinking about telling him to just put it in a vice but I don't want the OP making it worse than it already is. I know it would work however, you didn't hear it from me.
