I put 100 rounds through my new RIA. I had 2 maybe 3 failer to chamber and it was always the last round in the magazine. Would this be a magazine issue or the gun? I've also heard that even higher-end 1911s might do this. Any advice would be helpful. Thanx!

Love my 1911 by the way. My first and certainly not my last.

    OK
I would get some top-quality mags anyhow....and shoot the gun some more before getting too excited about it.

By not chambering....is the gun not picking the round up from the mag...or is it just not getting fully into battery?

The mag is empty the bullet just gets stuck in the "middle" the slide doesn't close all the way

  4. It sounds like a weak magazine spring.
It is allowing the last round to nose dive into the feed ramp.
I like to polish the feed ramp and barrel chamber with 1000g wet/dry paper and then follow it with a good quality metal polish.
You can polish them to be very smooth but do not change any angles.
Also while you are breaking in a new 1911 try to keep it on the wet side at least where the slide and frame meet.

Does it do this with multiple mags or just one?

You might also take your mags apart and clean them. I use three of the ACT mags from RIA in my mid size (4") and it shoots JHPs as well as FMJs. I just had to give it some TLC as Jim S. said.

Try a Wilson, Chip McCormick, or Tripp mag.

This. A 1911 is only as good as its magazines, and bad magazines will turn the best 1911 in the world into an unreliable piece of crap.

Yep,.....that's a mag issue! I have had great luck with ACT
mags in some pistol. However, some just do not like certain mags.

    McCormick, Tripp, Wilson & MecGar

The dreaded "ACT Mag in Filipino pistols" syndrome. It doesn't happen a lot, but enough people report having issues between ACT mags and Filipino guns (not just ARMSCOR but other Filipino manufacturers too).

Change magazines. Take the one that has given you failures and put it in the junk box.
