I was in a Bass Pro Shop today and looked at the display cases of handguns.
I couldn't believe that of all the guns there were only 3 1911's.
One very nice looking Smith and two Taurus.
There had to be a hundred guns and where are all the 1911's?
They had the new (?) Remington Home Defense ammunition in .45acp.
I bought a box to try out.
Anyone ever shoot this stuff yet?

I bet it's 10mm, and you use it to put rampaging houses down.

There is a large Bass Pro in Bossier City, LA. Great place, always has a good selection of ammo but their handgun group is the worst when compared to other sporting good stores. Even worse is the guns they have are usually the bottom of the line models for the makers.

I have never seen a 1911 in that store period.

    What's so special?! There's 5 extra rounds! That's what's so special!

If I recall correctly, this ammo is nothing more than repackaged Remington Golden Saber rounds. Nothing real special....but the packaging sure is purdy....

i was going to say, the expanded pic on the side of the box bares a very strong resemblance to an expanded Golden Saber jhp.....

That's what I was thinking as well. Nice job by the marketing dept. on packaging.

The cut lines in the bullet around the hollow point are in a slight spiral around the bullet instead of straight.
The inside of the hollow point doesn't look like a Golden Saber either.

remington's prob the only high end jhp maker that includes 25 rounds instead of 20. i don't use GS jhp's, but that leaves a good impression on the company for me.

Bass Pro in the Dallas/Fort Worth area also has a slim offering of 1911's. Must be a corporate thing.
