I do not use (and have never used) my first name.

There are only two people that use that name, that I respond to.

    1. My Dad
    2. A good friend. (I'm the only one that knows his first name!)

My legal first name in all documents, is "N."

    It's not 'that' bad.

I was born in Tennessee, and my parents have always called me by my middle name.
When we moved to Maryland, the school system demanded that I be called by my first name.

I refused to 'answer' when called by my first name.
The kids in my classes used to 'make fun' of me, and my name, so, I just didn't respond to it.
In fact, I got thrown out of school (until my Dad had a not-so-cordial conversation) with the principal.
My History teacher used a not-so-nice version of my name, when he called me, and I responded by calling him a not-so-nice version of his first name.

His first name was Harrison. I called him "Harry-_ _ _ hole", to see how he liked it.
After that, he called me by my middle name, as I requested.

I suppose we all have our demons. . . .

I never minded it. A name is a name, it rarely gives an indication of the person who has it. One of my neighbors always calls me Mr(last name) and I do the same to him and his wife. He's older then I am, and to be honest he and his wife could be my second set of parents. Very nice people, very kind and self sufficient.

Because my legal first name is "N.", in the same way that George Gordon Liddy's first name is, "G."

I rather not disclose. It's rare enough for me to be identified by the GT stalkers.

It's okay. I didn't like it as a kid but I have grown accustomed to it.

A response like that to a male teacher when I was in school would have gotten you an introduction to the 'board of education".

BTW, my first name is the same as my Dad's and I rarely if ever use it.

I like my first name, but it is one of those names that most people who have the same name go by a shortened version of it. I prefer not to have it shortened. It drives me nuts when I introduce myself to someone and they immediately respond with a "nice to meet you (shortened version)".
