My 15-22 shoots wally world bulk pack 22lr just fine. I have shot 10K through it since I got it. Just keep it well lubed.

CCI produces 4 million 22 rounds a day. At some point every ones closets will be full.

Every hobby I've ever had got expensive.

Fishing for fun turned into tournaments.

Hacking a golf ball turned into joining a church league requiring a couple of practice rounds per week in addition to my league round.

    I bought a motorcycle in 2007 - 'nuff said.

Now, I've got the competitive shooting bug. My wife is nervous........
  4. .22 LR ammo probably has the slimest profit margin of all ammo sold.

Wouldn't expect to see any serious levels of .22 LR until center-fire
ammo is starting to be in stock regularly.

When you go from 1 shift 5 days a week to 3 shifts 7 days a week
labor doesn't just appear on the floor. Have to hire and train them.

You've also had a 400% increase in material, brass, copper, lead,
chemicals for powder. Does your upstream have the ability to fulfill
this as everyone else is pulling from the same upstream too? Add
demand, you add cost, all the way up the stream. Ammo
ain't gonna be no cheaper than it was before the train wreck.

It's a big system. A lot more complicated than there just isn't any

It'll be a long time until this eases to the point ammo is somewhat
available regularly. Now everyone is thinking the same thing, "I'm
stocking up so I never get caught short again". This isn't helping
matters either. Hope nobody has a neighbor sitting on 50K+ rounds
they've hoarded and their house catches fire. All that ammo probably
    isn't stored anywhere near properly.

    All the Best,

My bet is that when a panic hits, people scarf up 22LR because it is cheap. Before a panic strikes, because it is so cheap, I buy a brick or two every time I am at Dick's, Bass Pro, or am buying anything online. I currently have 30+ bricks of different brands of 22LR.

It's like M2carbine always says, 'it's not going to get cheaper', so I buy in off-panic years.

Plus, when shooting anything costs as much as it has become, you can still shoot 22LR all day long. So when all the other calibers get in short supply, people grab 22LR so they can at least shoot something.

  6. I have been instructing at Appleseeds since 2009. There is typically a small shortage in the spring for .22lr. The supply system is not intended to handle large surges. When people started panicking in December, a serious cycle began. When the shelves started emptying, people started panicking. The more panic, the faster they emptied. Along came the greedy individuals who saw an opportunity to make a fast buck so they bought up every box they could find just to resell it. This created a greater artificial shortage and drove the panic demand and then free market price up even more.
