Again - what happened with the Glock OEM version?
No clue, provided an alternative.
For the best definitive answer, a phone call to Glock would be in order.
I am picking up the GFA, just thought Glocktalk might be a good source of feedback.
I tried one in an armorer recert last year. Seemed decent. Ought to help prevent some folks from experiencing slide bite.
Last I heard (dated info, mind you), the company was considering offering the beavertail extension backstrap in 2 sizes (Lg/Md). They weren't sure at the time if it would be a "standard" piece with the Gen4 guns, or something that was available to be ordered as an optional part.
I could see it being something offered as part of a LE/agency contract package, so armorers could fit it to guns as needed. Dunno.
Not something I bothered to keep up on since then.
Interesting to show it in January and nothing but crickets since.
The general word is that while GLOCK was considering releasing this option back strap, it has since been scraped. Like you said, we haven't heard anything official about it since January. It might be something that shows up in the future; but I wouldn't count on it. If you are interested in such an item I'd recommend going for an aftermarket product.
