I used to have this info stored, but lost it. :crying:

Years ago, I obtained a good amount of 9mm +P+ 124gr. hollow-points, that were originally loaded for the NYPD. They caused a stink, and ultimately the Gold Dot was issued.

The packaging is definately L/E ONLY & no-frills, factory bulk.

Just curious what critter I have here? Sharp "Talons" or no>? :dunno:

Kinda cool to have them, no less...

I have never heard of any Winchester Talon-style 124JHP +P+ let alone ever seen any such creature.

The only 124+P+ load that was made for NYPD that I know of was Federal's 124FMJ-SWC +P+ (XM9MP).

I vaguely remember some 127+P+ in a plain white box. It has been many years ago. I do not remember if it was the first generation T or the SXT without the lubalux.

I had a couple of cases of that stuff back when it was available on the wholesale market. Nickel case, no lubalox on the bullet and the primer pocket was sealed with blue lacquer. I still have several hundred rounds stuffed away somewhere.

Here are some pics of 3 different 127 gr +P+ loads. Left to right, the canceled NYPD Q-load (I forget the Q-number on the white box and I tossed the boxes) from '95; the RA9SXTP load from '97; and the revised RA9TA from '02. I also have some RA9TA from '05, but it appears the same as the '02 and it's easier to get 3 bullets with some detail in the pic instead of 4.

Notice the nose of the jacket petals and the narrow throat of the nose cavity appear the same in the '95 & '97 loads, but different in the '02 load. That being the case, I'd suspect the canceled NYPD Q-load is the same as the '97 brass case load, meaning before the revision of the RA9TA (which included a wider velocity window for use in shorter barreled guns).

    Meant 127gr. +P+ :wavey:

And the load I have is definately the '95 flavor. Thanks for the pics!

    De nada.

I picked up a bunch of it on sale several years ago and used something like half of it for range ammo until I had a steady source of the later production stuff.
