"A society can be composed of individuals without a central values system and heritage holding them together."

    Agree or disagree?

    Thanks. ;)

    Strongly Disagree.

A common set of core values is what make a society strong.

Stuff like multiculturalism and diversity only weaken and divide a society.

This is one of the biggest problems in this country today.

Everybody is allowed, and even encouraged, to do their own thing
no matter how it may harm the cohesion of the larger society.

Disagree. I don't think there's much evidence in history to support such a concept.

Looking at our modern culture, I'd have to disagree.

  6. I believe that is what we are trying.

Not working out very well...is it?

Disagree. Suppose you took a religiously and culturally diverse mix of people to, say, colonize the moon. Say these people were kept safe and had everything needed to survive, but were cut off from all cultural influences from earth.

At first, they would appear to be a bunch of individuals without a central values system or heritage. But, IMO, over time, they would develop a new cultural identity and set of values. I think it's human nature and promotes survival and perpetuation of our species.

  10. Sounds more like the upcoming debate on cable TV than the real world.

Not "part of a collective", but sharing a "commonality".
