I started a new ritual. Every January (birthday serves as reminder), I changed the recoil and firing pin springs on each of my 1911s that I shoot or carry frequently.

I put one of them back in the safe with the rest after it served nightstand duty.

I'm gonna do things to it that I wouldn't even do to farm animals.

I looked at it and thought:

"If this is what everyone says is an 'entry' level 1911 and I thoroughly enjoy shooting it, I'm not sure I want to shoot a 'premium' 1911. I'll go broke."

    :D

Put it in a cold glove box, drove to work, worked, drove home, carried it in the house. All while we both exercised our 2A rights. Gotta love the USA!

Went to range, regulated sights. Came home, full disassembly. Stoned the sear and hammer hooks. Reassembled the gun. Got a very crisp trigger for my efforts.

Put it back in the safe. Good as new.
