i am going to do my first build and it will be a sbr. i was going to go with a 9mm lower but have decided to stick with .223. i should have the spikes lower in a few days. i was leaning toward black but i am curios to see what the options are. pics would be great sbr would be nice but regular length would be ok.

    thanks,

i was not going to reply but thinking on it if it was mine, I would honestly get some dirt from your area and match it, just my thoughts.

    How about purple?

Seriously,......are you looking at painting it, or looking for colors on furniture?
I've had one with all MagPul foliage green, liked that the best. Both mine now are all black.

I hope to have my Sbr back soon but mine looks similar to this.

i had my FF hand rail and Gas tube done in OD green as well since its a SBR u would never see the barrel but my front flip sights, barrel "what u can see" and flash hider are in black.

Its gives you an idea though.

Idk i have a bunch of black guns and just sick of everything black..

I am a fan of OD green.. on my recent parts Ar i threw a bunch of OD green magpul stuff on it..

but the reason i posted the pick of the green ar is because everyone and anyone can toss colored furniture on a gun.. do the reverse cause very few ppl do it and it looks nice.

    Just saying lol.

End of day its your gun.. Get what YOU want and enjoy... Then shoot the bejesus out of it :)

    What color? WTF?

    It's a gun, not a dress or a pair of shoes.

What's next in the tactikool world?:dunno:

Explain to me what's tactikool about choosing furniture color?

Anyways, OP...when I built my rifle, I went all black. When I decided to change out out my light mount (went from Vltor to GearSector) I needed to get a new ladder-rail cover. On a whim, I decided to try out FDE. I really loved it, and have since changed out my black MOE grip to a FDE one, and just yesterday I ordered a FDE CTR to replace my black one.

If there's something "tactikool" about going from all black to adding some FDE (or any other), I'm missing it.

    Before:

After (minus FDE CTR that is on it's way):

So, obviously FDE was my choice. I'd choose whatever you like best. I had no concern as to matching anything to my "environment". The idea isn't to camo, just to make it a little different than all black. I don't think adding colored furniture can camo anyways. Break-up a bit, yes. But again, that was not my intention.

Whoever said it's "tacti-cool" to have a gun or gun furniture other than black has obviously never been to Afghanistan, and had to pull security for 3 hours, and put their cheek on a searing hot, black stock.

There's a reason why the Army is switching all of their stuff to FDE, and that is due to heat.

All of our equipment is slowly starting to go to Flat Dark Earth. Its not just about the camouflage aspect, but its also about how well the item absorbs or deflects heat. You wanna put you cheek on a black stock, or a Flat Dark Earth stock after its been in the sun for 3 hours?

Go ahead, but I bet you the FDE colored SOPMOD stock I was issued on my M4 while deployed, would be a hell of a lot cooler after baking in the heat. Same thing for my SureFire weapon light, and my PEQ-15 that I was issued as well; all of it was Flat Dark Earth. It also causes less stress on electronics that are FDE as well.

Just my .02 cents. Your milage may vary.

The only reason I said "non-tacticool" is because I strayed from the normal 3 colors (green, black, brown).

I classify "tacticool" as anything that would make sense to somebody actually in the fight to use, being used by a non fighter like me. I believe (IMO) that my "M4" is tacticool just because I don't need what I did to my rifle to punch holes in paper, just looked cool. I came close to getting Foliage Green for it to match my ABUs :whistling:

Depends on what you are going to do with it. I'd go with FDE, UDE, or Forrest Green, but I like to set up most of mine for hunting.

Some people actually use their guns for something. Even if they don't what's it to you? It's like any other tool or hobby that folks may be interested in whether it's muscle cars, shop tools, or taking care of the yard. Some men are interested in customized tools, etc. and some keep wanting to talk about dresses and shoes apparently. This is the AR sub-forum, perhaps your expertise is better suited elsewhere.

Mine is gonna be black receivers with fde magpie furniture. I would rather all black but I got the fde used on the cheap. But if I was buying new it would be all black.
