Like the title says, what would you guys get? I want to go with a 5.56/223 and a 16" barrel. I will be doing very little if any hunting with this rifle. It will be a primary range/SHF/fine tune shooting skills weapon. I am looking for a rifle that is very accurate from 100-300 yds and has the capabilities to stretch out to maybe 500yds. I also plan to add a suppressor to the rifle in the future. The cost I posted will not include the sight as I have set aside a budget for that as well. I am leaning very hard towards the Larue OBR but just wanted to see what you guys thought. Thanks for any and all advice!

I would definitely not buy an ACR. BM screwed the pooch on what could have been a good rifle. SCAR is a much better choice.

But if it was me I would get a:
    - Noveske N4 or Centurion 16" middy barrel ($350-400)
    - your choice of good upper and lower built up with quality parts (interested in the new Noveske flared lowers or DD lowers are always nice) ($300 built up)
    - DD Lite 12", Centurion 12", or Troy TRX Extreme 13" ($190 - 310)
    - VLTOR A5 Buffer kit ($100)
    - ACS stock ($90)
    - MIAD ($30)
    - Troy flip sights ($190)
    - Vortex Viper PST 1-4 ($460)
    - ADM Recon mount ($175)
    - Geissele SSA ($170)
    - BADASS safety ($60)
    - VCAS sling ($50-100)
    - Gear Sector QD mount
    - RVG ($25)

I might have forgot a few things and I blew the budget. Oh well.

If your not afraid to go piston, you could always get an LWRC M6A2....went to the range with mine this weekend, and it was epic.

500 rounds of the Federal 5.56 NATO, 55 grain, and I ran I HARD. No issues. I like how much cooler it ran as well....not to mention clean-up was easy as pie. I have to clean D.I. M4s at work; last thing I wanna do is have to clean them on my off time.

If you do wanna go D.I., I've heard great things about any of the BCM guns, and I've heard great things about the KAC SR-15.

Here's a pic of my M6A2 DEA that I shot this weekend-

Scar 17S(308). A little more $ but if you can spend 2K you can save that additional 1K.
    $500 more for a 16S(5.56)

I'm w/ you ColdBlooded. Id spend the $800-$900 on a BCM then purchase ammo and whatever else I needed w/ the money left over. Maybe a class or something like that.

If you don't currently have an AR, I would get the KAC. Personally I would get an LWRC midlength. I already have a quality DI gun and want to try a quality piston set-up. If I only had one it would be DI.

The rifle by itself was $2200, but was well over that by the time I got the ACOG, VLTOR IMod stock, and the other stuff that's on it. I couldn't be happier though. LWRC makes a really nice rifle.

SCAR beats any AR15 I have ever owned or been issued. With a switch to reduce gas for suppressed fire, it would be perfect for you.

As stated before, the SR15 is sickkkk.

Or you can get a DDM4V5, an Aimpoint R1, mags and ammo and you are set
