I've got a Westernfield 16 Gauge that was passed down to me by my dad. It's a Model XNH-565-C pump that I have had for close to 30 years. I used to quail hunt with it and I've shot quite a few skeet back in the day. I'm just curious if any of you might know a little about this gun. I've been able to determine they were sold by Montgomery Wards and more than likely that's where my dad or grandad purchased it from. I don't even know where the serial numbers would be located. I'm just trying to figure out what year it was made and what kind of choke it has. My guess is it was manufactured in the 60's but that's just a guess. It's actually a sweet old 16 guage that has always been very dependable and accurate. Any info you might be able to help me with would be great.

Post a pic. Western Field were made by many different manufactures over the years. Wards would put out specs and take bids. I have one in 12 ga. and it's a mossy 500. I got it years ago for $75 with a funky twist choke barrel. Its currently wearing a mossy vent rib barrel I had in the safe. With a bit of stock work to get it to fit me its a nice field gun I don't mind taking in the brush.

I have a WF 20 that is a Mossberg Vent rib and a "dial-a-duck" (polychoke) choke.

great gun. Even has a metal, slightly oversized, safety tab

We also have a Westernfield 16 Gauge, made by Mossberg. Ours is a M550, and also is wearing a polychoke.

Anybody have any idea of value on these shotguns?

16 gauge is an excellent round I have a Remington 1100 I bought 30 years ago for $100. It shoots really really nice.

my WF is a bolt action 20ga. with a detachable two shot magazine and a poly choke. its a nice gun but id trade it for a pump .410 or something for squirrels.

It sure isn't easy finding 16ga shells anymore. I inherited my Grandpa's Winchester Model 12 in 16ga and try to take it out at least once every fall to either bird or squirrel hunt.

Cabela's had them on the shelf the other day. We were picking up a new shotgun for my son and he just happened to say "Hey look, they carry 16 gauge shells". I didn't pay any attention to what they were or price though, since I wasn't there for those.

That is what I was thinking, $125 to $150....too expensive to shoot and not worth selling! :crying:
