Were they plants?

I'm curious about the 3 Officers arrested from the Maricopa county Sheriff's office.

What's your opinion. Were they dirty before joining the Sheriff's office or did they decide to make some money after they joined with good intentions.....

My opinion is the one that is most scary. I think that they joined the Dept to help their fellow bad guys on the outside. I'm guessing the LEO organizations will be more careful now on who they hire?

  2. Unfortunately, this is not new. Does it really matter if they came on with bad intentions or turned bad after getting in? The timing is almost besides the point.

"They" are not just the drug cartels. They are Militia, gangs of all stripes, radicals.

Let's take it another step. They're co-workers. They know where you live, who's your spouse, who's your children. You don't think they won't give or sell that information to their people when they want to go active?

Wherever you're at, Charlie's probably already inside the wire.

    Have a nice day. :)

It certainly appears that your opinion just might be correct. I believe I've come to the same conclusion after reading the article. (most of it anyway)

    I agree with Patch...

    Charlie is here, now.

It will only get worse with an increasingly politically motivated hiring process...

I think the two women were plants and the guy was just a sucker.

Look at the pics of the women, check out their eyes, hard core and defiant. While the guy looks like, "damn I screwed up".

  6. There are without a doubt people sent to the Border Patrol Academy that are plants. It's something the USBP looks for specifically. If it's the case with them, then I have no doubt that the cartels also try to plant people in the local LE agencies.

That is unfortunately true, with even our agency. It does happen.

I understand they have been infiltrating the military for a while.

With the billions the drug cartels make, it's probably easy to recruit a few moles. Scary stuff.

Our police backgrounds don't really address the likely-hood of criminal infiltrators or spies. With the push to given citizenship to as many people who land here, its only going to get worse in handing first generation citizens credentials and a firearm. Until counter-intelligence is taken seriously by police administrators, agencies are going to be years behind the curve.

Hell, we had a lieutenant who was a complete dumb ___ and took a confidential employee information manual home. He left it in his old POS ghetto-fabulous ride and when the car got stolen, so did it. It contained every employees name, DOB, SSN, home address, phone numbers, next of kin and spouse/child/family information.

After much kvetching, the agency paid for six months of credit monitoring for each employee and gave the lieutenant a bad boy letter. About 20 employees got hosed for ID theft. The manual was found months later in a search warrant in another city.

It's bad enough to worry about turncoats, but we have to worry about pinheaded Poindexters, as well.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is an absolute mess now. Arpaio is under Federal investigation and he is taking the Sgt. Schultz defense - all while his staffers are saying that they have been warning him for years., his number two and three were fired for unethical actions and corruption, the subjects of his corruption investigations are suing him for tens of millions of dollars, overspending of $99,000,000, failing to investigate crimes in a contracted city, and now this.

It isn't a fun time to a 78 year old to be looking at a long stint in a Federal Prison, as one of Hack's clientele.

Where did you find the pictures of the deputies? I did not see any on the link to the news story.
