...came home with a Ruger SR1911.:embarassed:

I've always liked the looks of the classic 1911 but there was just something about this gun.

The only negative I've found so far is the loose slide to bushing fit.

I put 200 rounds through it today, 150 Blazer Brass and 50 Speer 230 grain Gold Dots, but it is so cold and windy here I couldn't really shoot for accuracy.

I'll probably order a Wilson or C&S extractor (just for peace of mind) and put some different sights on it but all in all I think it is a lot of gun for the money.

Down the road if I have a new bushing fit I'll probably have the barrel crowned as well.

If you want a really knowledgeable review of this gun follow this link:

This is my first new 1911 in quite a while. I'm stoked!

Edit: This is the first low priced 1911 I've ever purchased that had the grip safety timed correctly.

    Comrade Happyguy :)

It was just OK to begin with, a little better than the typical lower end Springer or Colt but nothing to get real excited about. After 200 rounds it has smoothed out nicely and breaks cleanly. There is a little movement before it breaks, but not too much and it's very smooth. My guess is 4 - 4.75 pounds but probably closer to 4. IDK, guessing the weight is probably a losing proposition.

If the hammer hooks are .0265 like the gun in the review I linked to, I could cut them down to .018 - .022 and it might eliminate most of the travel. But I don't have a jig for the sear so I'm going to leave well enough alone!

At this point the trigger is good enough that I see no real benefit in having anything done to it.

There were a couple of other small issues with the gun in the article I linked to that mine doesn't have.

The grip screw bushings don't protrude into the magwell, the mag release doesn't bump against the rounds, and neither does the nose of the slide stop.

The trigger bow does need to be spread some and I am a little concerned about the length of the nose of the extractor.

All in all I think this gun is a great value and I am very pleased.
