Seems like I've read there are reliability issues with the 21 SF. Anyway, kind of wanting a Glock in 45acp, and know where a new SF is.

My department bought a couple thousand for us a few years ago and we haven't had any issues what so ever. I'm into the thousands on round count on both my duty weapon and my personally owned 21sf. Buy in confidence

The only problem I know of was with the ambi mag release which was mostly found on SF models with Pic Rail.

Glock sent me a brand new gun w/o the ambi deal- I had one with the ambi release-how can you beat that? I did not have any issues as of the time they replaced the gun, but I was concerned
some problems were coming. What a company!! Great!

  6. I have put about a 1000 rounds thru mine with ZERO issues. Very confident in it. My bedside gun. Would bet my life on it's reliability.

This, and Glock will replace the pistol with a new one if necessary.

I have a 21SF and have no problems with the magazine release. Was it that common?

Just bought a G21sf, gen 3 a month ago and have put over 300 rounds through it, all perfect. Just installed a streamlite tlr1s and am thinking about night sites for a better visual on my nightstand. It's a heavy b--ch but am only using it as a hd gun so it'll do just fine

Excellent gun. Only issue is with the ambi mag models. I was disapointed in Glock in putting out a product without proper testing. If they would have tested the ambi models adequately, they would have found the problem.

  11. I've got a 21SF with the ambi mag release that I bought practically unused from a buddy. Haven't had any problem, but haven't shot it much. Can the mag release be replaced with a regular one?

  12. 21SF owner here with the non ambi release and glock rail. No problems....then again, it's not the problematic version as far as I know.

  13. No, different frame relating to the mag catch.

  14. Thank you SARDG. I think I will keep shooting it and see what happens. That trade-in sounds pretty good.

SF is Short Frame. What's the problem with the ambi mag release? I have a 21SF with ambi and Glock rail for about 5 years now with no problems.

You bet! I just received my replacement G21SF. Not only did they replace the gun, they installed Glock tritium night sights AND threw in an extra mag for a total of three. WOW!!!

I am enormously impressed with Glock service.

Love my gen4 ... no problems. I use both stock and LoneWolf barrels.

Insert a fully loaded magazine into the gun then press the mag release. If it sticks, that would be the issue most have reported. Some of them, would actually break.

Mine would stick but worked OK when dropping an empty mag. I didn't want to always have a nagging concern about it, so, they replaced it and I am very happy.
