If she shot from the hip it would be fine and dandy. From the shoulder it would be a bit much. But after reading the article the clerk was also wrong for accusing her of a "straw purchase".

NOTE: If you're using the Firefox Ghostery add on, you have to disable it in order to vote in the poll.

ETA: The poll needs help, only 72% using common sense at this point.

You can't get here from there!
By most accounts Osa Johnson was about 4' 11".

You can fast forward about two thirds through to see her shooting her rifle, an 1895 Winchester in .405, which was nearly as long as she was tall.

She was also known to use a 9.2X63 Mauser.

It's what's between the ears that matters. RIP Osa.

If what is being reported is accurate.......it is apparent the WM employee crossed the line.

IMHO, I think the employee realized what he did was not authorized or legal (declining to sell her a gun based upon physical features), so then accused her of the straw purchase, which as a FFL dealer, they have the option to decline if it is perceived it is/could be a straw purchase. If the employee sticks to his straw purchase story, Dangler doesn't have a chance to win the argument. :dunno:

There's a huge difference between helping someone select a firearm to suit them and their needs, and being a judgmental d i c k. He was the latter.

I never sell a woman a firearm until I meet her gang and speak to the leader:whistling:

I was ready to pounce on this article and agree with everyone else until I seen this one little quote.

Regardless, she says, “the man refused to sell the gun to me and the passive manager escorted us out of the store.”

Who is this "Us" , is it a typo or was she with someone when she was buying the shotgun.

I seen a lot of gun store clerks shoot down a gun sale or do a double background check when husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend goes gun shopping where the guy does the picking and the girl does the buying.

    Not terribly unrelated:

The majority of women I know who shoot — some of whom are petite — can shoot a 12ga. just fine.

Right up there with the "semi-autos are too complicated for women" sexist bull**** I've heard more than once at gun stores (though admittedly, never to a woman's face).

If that were actually the case, the walmart clerk would have said, "No, I apologize, but based on my training and store policy, since both of y'all are here together, I have to run background checks on both or I cannot sell you the gun."

Only an imbecile would make the statement he made about her being too small, fragile, short etcetera.

True, but the whole article is based on her side of the story and her facebook rant.

Who knows what the Walmart clerk really said.

You're right, she may or may not actually be quoting him.

    Good catch , I didn't see that.

Sure you can, but if the gun clerk suspects you are straw purchasing a gun, have some serious mental issue, or are planning to commit a crime, they have every right not to sell you the gun.

Now again we were not there, and we only have one side of the story, but it seems like the clerk thought it was too much gun for her and was trying to steer her into something else. At one point that changes and she is accused of straw purchasing a gun for her husband. Who know what was said to make the Walmart clerk think that.

That said, my wife is buying a shotgun, and we reach an impasse with the clerk accusing the wife of straw purchasing the shotgun for me...what would I do? I would tell the clerk that he is wrong and I would let them do the background check on me too :dunno:

After the background checks came back clean I would bytch to the clerk and the manager and demand a discount on the shotgun.

Uh oh! Okie, your store manager is going to find out about this. I smell a cash award for a young lady that was refused a purchase. :whistling:
