I got a 1973 Walther PPK but the loaded chamber indicator is always sticking all the way out. I removed it because I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to work and why it was not working. Any down side to removing it? Anyone know why it was always all the way out? I could press on it and the spring would compress and the pin would move but it would always return to fully out even when empty.

The spring is supposed to keep it in the "empty" position unless the rim of a chambered cartridge pushes it to the "full" position.

I haven't pulled my slide apart in years, so I can't remember how it was all assembled, but it sounds a little like the spring is somehow in there pushing in the wrong direction.
