Has anybody seen or heard anything relative to Vltor having actual new production Bren Tens at the Convention. The first of them are, as you know, supposedly due to be released by the end of this month.

    :dunno:

I hear you Bruce, it would be nice to hear some good news like they are on schedule or better yet even ahead of schedule. The wait is really painful! I'm holding on so tight I'm crushing the grip on my polymer Glock-29, I have to go shoot some with my S&W1006 just to get the feel of real all metal pistol again!

Eric Kincel of VLTOR if you are reading this, throw us a frickin' bone man!

I asked a guy on the 1911 Forum who had went to the NRA Convention if Vltor was there. He said he didn't see them, but wasn't looking for the and the show was very big and he couldn't even find a company that he knows was there. Hopefully in a few weeks the Standards will start showing up at Brass Pro and other places.

I said last year that I doubt we would see them before 2011 and I may end up being right.

They weren't at the Meeting. Sporting Products Ltd. was supposed to be there as they are the distr. for the Bren Tens but they had to cancel out. I was advised by their Sales Manager that shipping was behind schedule for about 2 weeks due to lack of ammo for endurance testing on the pistols!:dunno:I hope they get these out as I never shot my original, shipped without mag. I would have thought these would have been tested long ago:shocked: I've got one of each ordered and I want one that will work:rant:

That's what Vltor's blog had led everyone to believe, as I recall: that "endurance testing" already had been done on the prototypes (way back when they were still loving that "Fortis" monker), with any final engineering changes to correct stress issues to be made BEFORE bringing the final product to market.

Ain't that how it's normally done? :dunno:

Delays can and do happen, but I'm not getting why this one would be for "endurance testing" when the whole thing is so far down the road ... :dunno:

"The reason that Sporting Products canceled is that delivery has been "pushed back" at least a couple of months and the the biggest seller on the retail level, Bass Pro Shops, is talking about Christmas."

    Ammo shortage my a**.

These folks are more deceitful all as time passes and lie thru innuendo and omission.

I'm I actually surprised by this turn of events? In view of Vltor's track record to date, absolutely not.

I would hate to think we are the Butt Stock in this waiting process.

Two weeks? Bass Pro Shops, the biggest retail oulet for Bren Tens is advising customers to think Christmas. Greg Abrams from Vltor (not Eric Kincel by the way-think about that) is talking the end of the year also. Personally, I think that, based on their track record, if their lips are moving-it's a bald face lie. For what it's worth, Vltor is stating on the record that they are making changes, hence the delay. It's really bad when you can't keep the whoopers your telling straight, isn't it.

There is a lot more info if anybody is interested at Bren-Ten.com Forum.

I emailed the distributor listed on Vltor's website and here is the response I got yesterday:

    Sir,

I received your e-mail about the Fortis pistols from Vltor that you are interested in purchasing. Just to let you know, Vltor is having a lot of the same problems developing the guns and making them work that Dornhaus and Dixon had with the originals. Vltor just sent us a press release stating that there will be an indefinite delay in production and release of the pistols due to problems in manufacturing and reliability. They were originally due out in July; this would put them out somewhere near the end of 2010, according to Vltor. After years of experience in the firearms industry, I can tell you that if they say that they “might” be ready by the end of the year, you can bet that you won’t see that gun until next year at least. I have seen guns that were cataloged and press-released, and were not seen on the market for 3 years after the fact. Hopefully that won’t be the case with the Fortis pistol from Vltor, but keep your fingers crossed.

I hope that you find this information helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Matthew J. Predmore

    WHOORAH!

This doesn't wash with the "we are in final production" statement of last year. Which of these official, on the record statements are to be believed? With all the technology they have, they can't get a casting right in two years? Right!

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! Maybe we are to hope they receive no further government contracts which allow them to act. Seems those pesky contracts are always getting in the way and make good cover. Even from them, it gets old. If they are THAT constantly overwhelmed, why are they not ramping up mfg. capacity?

It's merely more of the same, YOU get the ***** end of the business stick. Vltor would be wise to remember that the worm ALWAYS turns and eventially they will be look FOR customers and not the other way around.
