While researching the install of a new program prior to purchasing it, I found instructions that stated "DO NOT USE AUTORUN" to install the program. It said to drill through the levels: My Computer, CD/DVD drive, Program, Installer, and then right click the installer and click on "Run as administrator". This will ensure the program receives the correct rights and permissions to start with. Now that I know that I will install all programs that way.
