It shouldn't have made any difference whether they were carrying Remington 700's,muzzle loaders or AR's,oh I forgot AR's are scary so of course it made a difference.

I listened to the entire recording,at first just out of general interest. The more I heard the officers speak that were involved the more upset I became, they really are there own worst enemies. SJ 40

Who said it made a difference? Try showing up at your local mall with an 870 and see what happens.

There isn't a poster here who wouldn't go to full Condition Orange if someone showed up with a long gun at a public event or had some guy walk into his place of work carrying one. Well, congratulations; now you know what happens when cops go to Orange.

ive disagreed with Bren on a few (very few) posts in the past but he is spot on here. read his postings for this thread and all it a day. anything else will be in agreement, restating him, or completely wrong. no middle ground.

And I believe they were wearing backpacks now all, didn't we just have something happen that a couple of guys put backpacks somewhere.... add to that the open carry of arms and the general shenanigans they displayed beg for further investigation. They knew exactly what they were doing and they got the response they wanted in fact it's the response that is demanded.

What's wrong with cops stopping 2 people carrying AR's to a crowded market to see what is up? Should they wait until 2 people open fire in a crowded place? Then imagine not only the people here shouting about how police don't prevent crime, but the calls for bans because people are allowed to OC "assault rifles" with high cap magazines.
If people keep antagonizing cops and citizens like this, they will piss off enough people to get bans enacted. Just ask the good citizens of CA how things worked out for them.

These two should have exercised some common sense.

    This.

circumstance and location all play a part in what looks out of place and gets extra attention.

a guy walking with a rifle slung over his back while wearing camo during hunting season can usually go about his business in rural shops, gas stations and diners.

doing that out of season or where hunting is prohibited like urban areas will draw attention, doing so in a rural area in season draws little if any attention unless somebody asks if they "saw anything"?, or whatcha using today"?

some folks just don't know the difference.

I'm of the opinion that they know the difference but are doing this to incite responses

    Innocent until proven guilty, buster!

LE can only detain someone convicted of a crime! This is still Merica after all.

    You think so????
I'll bet some of the LEO's and attorneys here might differ with you on police detaining you.
