The big question is, will this get re-posted more than the video of the DEA guy shooting himself?

Colt lost their rights to the m4 carbine, so the army rebid the contract.

    Nope.

The purchasing period ended and it came up for recompete.

(and Colt will still protest the hell out of this)

Remington will receive the TDP with strict NDA requirements and the Army will pay Colt 5% in royalties for every M4 procured from second sources until EOY 2050.

Why would the military ever have accepted colts product with the rediculous contract agreements put out in the first place?

The rifles will probably be actually made at the same facility that makes Bushmaster rifles (Remington and Bushmaster are the same company now).

    CNN is gonna go ape####.

This is sad. Colt is an American institution. One of - if not the - most historic and iconic arms makers still in business today. I like the company and their products. Sad to see this.

On the upside, maybe Colt will finally put more emphasis on their civilian line.

Colt Python reintroduced in 2013, anyone?

Sam Colt set up shop in 1836. Remington Arms was set up 20 years earlier.

Why should any company be protected just because "that's the way it's always been"? They didn't win the bid, they should have bid better. The arguments of keeping a company around because it's "historic" or "iconic" is just foolish. If that were the case, there would still be Edsels, Pontiacs, and Tuckers rolling off the lines.....

Colt has done it to themselves. They have that union attitude. Now they are gonna have to turn to us for sales. The next few years is gonna be a make it or break it for them.

I think it will depend on how long they stand there holding their hat crying. Then putting their hat on and deciding not to fade away. Making a product that we want.

I don't think that's why people "worship" them- it's because they actually run.

There are so many crap guns out there made by AR manufacturers that don't have a clue, it's disgusting.

This is why we have nonsense like "ARs are unreliable" and other BS.

I don't think anyone in the world is going to buy a DPMS over a Colt because Remington/Cerberus has the contract.
