Union employes average about 25% more pay on average nationally with far better benefits. My last department was union my current one is not and I am working to get that changed.

Our city's fire is union, ambulance is not IIRC.

FD is the only department that never gets cuts year after year.

    Dang, Brother!

    Do you commute?

Just saw that your profile said that home is FL and you're L2. I've heard about a brother from Seattle that works in SF and pushes the shift-trades, another guy I met in DHS training that worked in O.C. that lived in PHX, but please tell us your secret.

    No traffic at 35,000'?

Edited to add...I'm a dumb@$$. Congratulations on retirement!!!!!!! Doh! F-n relatively new guy here (7 yrs Fire, more in EMS).
