Just a general question for discussion. If you were spending $1,800ish... would you get something like a TRS, or a Milspec and send it to SACS with say $1,200 in work done to it? What would you choose and why?

Honestly, it would depend on how you'd option the MS. The TRP can give a better bang for the buck.

    I'd vote a MS/GI and send it here - http://www.harrisoncustom.com/Services.aspx?cid=1

His prices are very comparable to SA and his work speaks for itself. Not taking anything fro SA, but I should have used John on one of my builds.

ETA - I know someone who's getting this done to his SA - http://www.harrisoncustom.com/Package.aspx?pid=10

He added a few extras that aren't a must, I think the estimate time was much better than expected.

the Mil-Spec...I'm just not a fan of how the TRS looks, mainly because of the way they have the small serrations. I like medium to larger serrations on my 1911 slide.

I would go with a milspec and shipping it out, just because you can set it up exactly like you want. As a matter of fact that is probable my next 1911 project

I was actually looking at this package, but this puts it about $2,300.

Wouldn't have to be a TRS...just something under $2k for comparison sake.

That's the one I'm planning down the road with a few extras.

You're so close, I'd save a little more and buy once, cry once, honestly.

That's what I was thinking. I REALLY like JH's work. It would be a year or so before I could do it regardless.
