"Troops now could fire against an attacker within seconds by sliding a lever on their weapons to make a round drop into the firing chamber. Loaded weapons are being carried both in the open outdoor areas of the base and inside buildings and meeting rooms."

It's not a loaded weapon if you have to manipulate it before firing, other than a safety switch. No round in the chamber=unloaded firearm.

Only took 3 posts before someone got an illogical Obama reference in. Hell, this is worse than the liberals use of 'it's Bush's fault' could ever be.

This is probably new for the Air Force and Navy. Marines, and possibly Army, always have their weapons and ammo within arm's length at all time.

LOL.....there is virtually no difference in how the military is ran today over 4 years ago or 8 years ago. They are still doing the same job and have achieved some fantastic goals. For those who claim there is you are blinded by partisan politics.

....and of course anyone who does not join in with the childish 5th grade insults is automatically branded a liberal. Standard GT politics.

When one of those so called allies kills American troops they should first kill him and then go to his home, take his family outside and then level the house. If that doesn't stop the attacks start leveling their parents houses as well.

It's ignorant to have it any other way.

    That's how Israel does it.

I was reading about how a suicide bomber's family home was leveled, and then the family got some money from a muslim group that sends money to the families of suicide bombers, and they built a new home, and then they came and leveled that home too.

This kind of thing does work. I wouldn't want to see it happening here in the US, especially with some of the nuts I'm related to.

I was in Afghanistan last year. We always had our rifles slung over our shoulders with a full magazine and an empty chamber while going about our business on the FOB.
