Hey everyone! Sorry if this is a question that was already addressed, but I'm looking at swapping triggers for my Gen 4 G19. It's my understanding that to swap to the smooth trigger you can just get a G17 trigger (with trigger bar) and just trade 'em out. Is this still the case with the Gen 4 models? Do I need a specific Gen 4 G17 trigger?

Thanks and again I apologize if this is a question that has already been answered, I tried to search the forum but had no success.

Yes you can. You can either use the gen 4 smooth trigger part # SP03608 or the gen 3 trigger part#SP00357 I would stick with the gen 4 part. The gen 3 bar works but you get a more positive firing pin safety disengagement with the gen 4 bar due to the little bump on the right side of the virtical extension.

Looks like you may need a gen 4 G17 trigger and bar for your Gen 4 G19?

    I only have a Gen 3 G27 with a gen 3 G17 trigger myself.

    I have a Gen 3 Glock 17 smooth trigger in my Gen 4 19.

The main difference is the lack of the bump, but I prefer the Gen 4 17 smooth trigger to the serrated one.

I have installed a Gen 3 smooth trigger in my 26 as well.

It's cut and dry, super easy, and takes less than 2 minutes.

No problem interchanging the trigger bars. I saw it explained where the Gen4 with the bump centers the trigger bar (why? I don't know) that the Gen3 smooth trigger bar doesn't. Won't make a difference and I put a Gen4 smooth assembly into my Gen3 G17 with no troubles afterwards.

The bump centers the virtical extension on the firing pin safety giving it a little more lift to prevent light primer strikes. probably not an issue with a gen 3 bar but that's why the bump.

Thanks for the explanation. I saw the "what" described by a legitimate gunsmith I knew but not the "why". Now I know. :embarassed:

I ground the bump off of my Gen4's Tw/TB. It would get a gritty feel after just a few dozen rounds dirtied up the underside of the slide. Much better now.
