I have 3 Glocks...a G17, G19 and a G26. I'm thinking I'd like to get a .40cal and a G23 Gen 4 would likely be my choice. I'd rather not spend any more money on guns at the moment. Do you think it's worth trading off my G17 in order to get one ? I shoot the G17 less frequently by far than the others. Thoughts ?

I was planning to try and strike a deal with my LGS...but, what's their incentive to trade me even used for new ?

You would be better off selling the G17 and then buy the G23.

Their incentive will be about $250 cash along with your pistol.

Are you saying that's their margin on a new one ?

I would sell it yourself. If not you will be violated in a trade at a LGS

You are better off by selling it, I recently sold my G23 to buy a 19 so I put it up for sale and it took a whole 2 hours to sale. But before that I made sure to secure the G19.

I say, if you're gonna part with it, give a GT bro a shot first. Not only is ANY lgs gonna screw you, but you'll be giving a fellow GT member a shot at a gun they'll want and enjoy.

If you've got a 17 and 26, the 19 is just taking up space, but that's just me.

I'd say keep em' all and get a Glock 34. Glocks are just better in 9mm. The .40 M&P's are great however. I'm thinkin' about the VTAC version of the FS .40 cal.

I also would consider selling the G19 first or perhaps selling the G19 and the G17 and putting the proceeds to a G34 and an M&P in .40 or better yet a G30 or a P220.

Better off sell it outright. A LGS is going to give you wholesale and sell it retail. Like cars, if you trade it in the dealer will give you wholesale and sell it retail. If you sell the car yourself, you get retail. Sounds like plenty of GT members will take your G17 Gen 4. I would be intrested but have one.

I would never trade a G17 for a G23, but that's speaking only for myself. YMMV.

What a fair price for a used but nib G17 Gen4?

Well NIB (new in box) can't be used. One or the other. The market is nuts so prices are all over the map.

I'd say retail for a new G17 Gen4 should be about $570 + tax. Used but in "like new" condition $500-520.

With the market as is most likely you will see $6-700 new and similar for used but in good shape.
