my partner (left) and i (center) wrapped up a few loose ends this morning and closed the doors for the week. what to do with an entire week off work? bass fishing, of course! today was day 1 of 5. we had a $5 per person buy-in - two teams: my partner's dad's buddies and us. numbers win, regardless of species....and the loosing team has to clean the fish. the other guys got a 20min start on us, but in the end they had 21 bream and 7 bass. we had 29 bass. our largest 7 ranged from 4-5.5#. the winnings funded tomorrow's lures. oh and i killed a water moccasin with my 10/22.

    great job ;)

The watersways here are still cool and fishes are bitting but nothing to brag about. I'm still targeting my favorite tropical species "peacock" and myan cichlids.

all of those bass were caught on dark and light green 6" and 8" lizards. we caught these next few on the same thing, but fishing was a lot slower. the largest i caught today was 4.5#, the largest yesterday was 5.5#. tomorrow morning we are going to a new spot and hopefully will have some impressive pictures....

    Freezers are great!

Looks like y'all had a blast. I'm heading out now for a quick fish, but I probably won't get anything.

Well, it lasted all of 30 minutes for me. 10 minutes of dry, 20 minutes of rain. I didn't want to catch anything (sickness-wise) so I left without a nibble.

slot limits vary from lake to lake. we were fishing a private pond we've been managing for a year, but are about to lose rights to fish it since the owner is selling the land. they told us to keep whatever we wanted to, which to us, means everything. we destroy fish before they hit the freezers. weekly cookouts are common...there's nothing like springtime!
