To refinish or not, that is the question...

So I have a Gen 2 17 that is my range baby. I took some metal polish to the internals and slicked up the trigger a bit. Basically a $.25 trigger job. Well, I got bored and decided to polish the feed ramp. I didn't do any mirror like poslishing, basically just took off the black coating and smoothed out the ramp. I didn't use any sand paper or anything. Just an old t shirt and polish. It looks good, runs 100%.

The purist in me is saying "Glocks don't have polished feed ramps." I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the dang barrel cerakoted graphite black or just leave it. The slide has all sorts of holster wear on it from running competiton, so to me that looks cool, and I'm proud of it.

You guys think I should refinish the barrel, barrel and slide, or just leave it all as is?

It made the trigger a little smoother, but nothing dramatically different. The trigger feels stock with the grit worked out of it.

When you dry fire it side by side with my bone stock 23 you can notice a difference.

So should I leave it or just do the barrel?

Leave it ! My 02 G 22 has had so many rounds thought it there is hardly any black left on the feed ramp, you shoot one enough and they all have a polished feed ramp.

Guns are tools I take care of my tools but they all show use. Some of the marks on my guns have stories, when I see them they remind me of some very good times ,

If you were to see some of the scars on my match guns you may cringe but believe me I was having Fun when I got those scars, kind of like myself. SJ 40

That's a good point. The reason I did it in the first place was because of that. It had a shiny dot where the rounds would constantly hit it.

I did a gentle .25 trigger job. By gentle I mean Q-tips instead of a dremel and dropped in a 3.5 connector.

Trigger is silky smooth with a little less effort required to break allowing me to get more accurate.

FWIW I would leave it alone, keep the character marks. It shows that you actually shoot your guns, not just talk about them like a lot of people. Keep shooting that thing the way it is thats my vote!
