I picked up a used Remington 870 express 20 gauge with a 28" barrel...way too long for home defense in a house built like mine. I planned on having a gunsmith chop it down to 18.5 inches but now I'm getting a sick feeling about it. You see, I've never been a hunter, but I don't know if I want to waste the long barrel with remchoke system and two chokes. Kind of that "what if I do want to hunt later" thing, you know? There just aren't very many cheap cylinder bore plain jane barrels for 20 gauge shotties out there. I don't want to pay more for a barrel than I did for the gun ($130). What would you do?
