Got friends from the UK visiting for Christmas, will be coming Sunday. I always look forward to having them, but they're all up in arms about our "crazy gun culture", mostly because of the most recent tragedy.

They know I'm a gun guy. There will be drinking. There will be the inevitable discussion and I'm going to get ganged up on. Not looking forward to it this year. Some are my wife's relatives too.

Just open up fire on them when they hit your driveway while screaming "The Redcoats are coming, the Redcoats are coming" at the top of your lungs!!:wow:

Will solve your problem and give the relatives something to talk about at Christmas time for years to come!!

Just say "it's the holiday, I would prefer to not discuss this now".

"How about that Kate Middleton and those hooters, huh ?? Huh ?"

Friends respect their friends opinions even if they don't agree with them.

If they can't accept your opinion and want to argue about it constantly then they are not your friends.

If there's drinking, make sure guns are secured. You don't need to be a Christmas headline.

If there isn't, or before the drinking starts, offer to take them out shooting somewhere. The worst they're going to say is no, and they might say yes and learn something.

Personally , I would not allow or be open to verbal attacks, opinions or other wise but then I don't drink.

I used to drink many years ago and just am not the same when drinking. Don't know when to shut my mouth and let things get to me that ordinarily would not bother me.

Good luck and try not to let them corner you ! Happy and safe
Holidays to you and ALL !

This has always been the case before, but all of a sudden they're on the bandwagon. "Something needs to be done and now is the time" seems to be the battle cry at the moment.

So offer to take them shooting with you, and if they don't go, tell them they can't talk about guns, shooting, or anything related until they do.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

There's no problem there. Everything's locked up in the safe and doesn't come out when there are people over.

Things aren't going to get out of hand, I'm just not in the mood to have to defend myself the whole time.

I have actually taken my sister in law and brother in law to the range here before. They were real appreciative. Or they seemed to be.

They're from England and don't have a horse in this race so just sit there and agree with them. It might actually be fun and keep your blood pressure down.

Tell them, "These people hate guns!" and hand them a list of local motels. HH

Just take out your AR and leave it on the kitchen table for when they arrive. Videotape the look on their faces and post it here for us.

My father in law is a retired British Army Amorer. He isn't coming for Christmas this year but was here in September. When he was here we laid out all of my firearms on the living room floor and I took some digital photos for him to take home. He's been down at the pub showing the photos off to all his old cronies ever since. They're all jealous.

    I'm actually considering this option.

At the risk of causing friction, you could always offer to compare occupied burglary rates with them. Although I find the whole dental work thing much more humorous.

Yeah. Burglary rates are sky high in Britain.
