Time for the patriot guard riders to mount up.

    These boneheads are despicable.

    Agreed!

I am all for freedom of expression but I cannot, for the life of me, understand the reasoning behind this small (yet very vocal) group of people.

Those twits have THREATENED to protest at a lot of places. They get publicity without actually showing up.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Why would any organization want to receive negative publicity? :dunno:

  5. Some peopel think they are blessed when they are persecuted and vile things said about them.

The thing is this is partly taught by the Bible. The thing is that this is an incomplete understanding. Calling them jerks is not a false statement in this respect.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Even bad press is still press. It's a pride thing.

Why do we never hear about Joel Osteen, or Billy Graham, or the Pope speaking out against the Westboros? If I were to employ the reasoning skills of a small minority of other posters around here, I would conclude that all Christians support the actions and positions of the Westboro baptist Church.

Don't know if Billy Graham ever said anything about them publicly, but they have protested his gatherings.

Don't discount the Patriot Guard Riders. They are a nice bunch of folks. If Islam had a group that was as actively interfering with the jihadists, it would be a welcome sight.

The same reason we don't hear the Imams speaking out against violent, fanatical Islamic terrorists.

As far as I know, the Patriot Guard is not a religious outfit. And there is still no word on Benny Hinn speaking out against WBC. I'm starting to think that Christians support them and that the Patriot Guard is a very unChristian organization.

Well, are there any polls out there that support that theory?

I don't know. If I wanted I could design a poll that would support whatever position I wanted it to.

But you're getting too complicated. The reasoning skills I'm borrowing right now have no need for supporting evidence.

They are run by a family of lawyers. They protest and sue or settle in exchange for not protesting something. Basically extortion. someone posted a flow chart of their finances.

Just follow the money. They are not doing it out of moral reasons. It is for the cash.

The ironic thing is they're like a gay parade-just desperate for attention.

    Not "like".

These guys are asking, if not begging for an American warrior to retaliate.

The westboro baptists are reprehensible in every sense of the word. Some gays can be a little irritating, but these guys are on a mission to be as offensive as possible to get their message across.

Consider this is from a guy that voted no on the last bill to allow gay marriage in my state.
