Discussion in '1911 Forums' started by woodrowNC, Jun 26, 2011.

  1. sent them in before the heart surgury. sacs has been ready for months. told me to take my time paying. it wasn't going anywhere. the colt on the other hand is still not finished. much less work on the colt. 1450 on the springer, 750 on the colt. calllng them monday to voice displeasure. no doubt it will look wonderful, but damn. spinger's for carring, colt, with royal blue is for range us only. very anxioius.

i also plan on having a better camera to take pics with. a d3100. quack says it's a good model. he seems to take great pics so i'll take his word for it.

  2. well, i think you did. after they cut part of my heart out, i was on some pretty heavy meds. perhaps it wasn't you. but i do know you're into it. if you didn't, what do you think of the d3100 nikon for a beginner?

Thanks Woody, I am a true noob when it comes to taking pics. I've only had point and shoot cameras before and this is my first DSLR. The top pic was inside, and the bottom two were in natural light. Unfortunately, the sun is on the front of my house in the afternoon when those two were taken. Here is a direct sunlight pic on the deck for comparison...

  9. yep, you can see the difference. as a beginner, how long did it take you to become proficient?

and quack, down and dirty, what is a color rite pro.

Right after I got it, I went to Disney and had it daily on me for a week. Maybe you saw the infamous "manpurse" pics. :shakehead: I took a couple thousand pics that week in all conditions, so it was a good "see what works and what doesn't" kind of experience. I don't know that I am "proficient" yet, but feel comfortable using it. I still have a lot to learn though.

The copyright pro is to set the white balance. I've used others in the past and so far this is the best and easiest I've found. In photos that I post, there is a noticeable difference in color when I don't use it.

There's another fellow on a different forum that I've helped and he likes it as well.

I let a friend borrow the CRP to shoot a wedding and he said it reduced his workflow since he didn't have to adjust the colors in processing.

Way before my time. I've been lucky as I was a party animal until about 45. I fished the pro circuit, guided hunters, shot guns and anything that moved 2 and 4 legged. Had a ball. Still hunt and fish alot, I mean alot and just got into 1911's 3 years ago. Another bad habit my wife says.
