    From GSSF:

The Tarheel State Regional Classic XV scheduled for October 29-30, 2011 has been cancelled due to events beyond our control. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. Please join us at another match in your area!

From me: Oxford was the closest match ever to my home.:whistling:

It was very close to me as well, shot it the last two years and was planning on it again. Now I may have to travel somewhere to get another in after Columbia.

Wow... I missed Morganton due to illness. I was looking forward to come out to Oxford, NC for this match. It's less than an hour from my place. Does anyone know why it was canceled ??

I live in the Ral area and this was going to be my first match!! ( My son was going to shoot with me) . This really sucks!!! This is how I justified buying the 17L that I can't shoot in IDPA. Crap!!!

Perhaps you should have 'justified' a 34... :whistling: Shoot that in same two GSSF Divisions as 17L AND in IDPA.

You know you wanted that new 17L...

I bought a 34 as well. I have been a 1911 guy and not into Glocks. My son took me to a " fun match" at Oxford, and I figured if you can't beat them.....
I do like the long slides, don't care for the others. And yes, I really wanted the 17L. It was all I could do not to buy the 24 they had at the crack dealers as well. Just no other 40's. Still a bummer about the match....

One wonders if it was cancelled because the RO's didn't want to put up with the *****ing and moaning that took place during and after last year’s match.

It got so bad the moderator locked last year’s Oxford debriefing thread but not before he declared he would never return to Oxford.

I think we lose sight of the fact that most everyone on this forum knows more about how a GSSF match is supposed to run than does the average RO, especially at a new match location. Therefore it is easy to find faults at even the best organized matches.

The RO's give up their weekend so we can enjoy our 3-4 hours at the match. The least we can do is to thank them and provide constructive criticism when necessary. A GSSF match should be enjoyable for the RO's as well. Sometimes we forget that.

Or we can continue to bad mouth certain matches (e.g. Columbia) and maybe they will throw in the towel as well.

Now, if someone would hand me that ladder I will get off this soapbox.

In my mind, I like the long slides, too. But I have a 17L I don't shoot at all, and a 24 that I use only for pins once a month. But the 34 gets a workout at IDPA, GSSF and Steel. I'm really down to shooting 2 Glocks semi-regularly now, a 34 and a 30.

Hey, all you guys between the Blue Ridge, the Atlantic, south of DC and north of Columbia, SC.

This frees up one of GSSF's match budget "packages". Grab it.

If you have a host club in that area that might be interested in hosting a GSSF match, have them fill out the host club info package off the GSSF website, get it to GSSF, and get one scheduled for the 2012-13 match season.

These matches do not happen in a vaccuum.

They have to happen at an existing club that can provide the place, time, personnel, and any equipment GSSF cannot supply.

I don't expect that will happen. I believe both matches were run by the same match coordinator and many of the same RO's worked both as well.

The range, its location, its facilities or the scheduled weekend didn't play into the decision to cancel the match.
