The other day Dad brought home a Llama that someone was looking to sell at work. It was the double stack magazine...... and I had soo been wanting to see how a double stack 1911 style gun felt in my hand. No so good on the feeling or the 4 or 5 rounds I fired.

I have read alot about the Llama and how they aren't 1911s but look like them. It is all true. In the hand you can really tell they aren't much at all.

But it did afford me some knowledge so for that I tip my hat to the Llama for saving me a ton of money on something that felt bigger than the G21 grip.

Yeah, Llama makes a couple guns I like, but they certainly aren't 1911s.

Llama is a decent gun.. My father had one that he gave me, it was a colt 1911 copy and it works. It isnt the most accurate, well built pistol but it fires every time i pull the trigger. Even with the old junky mags.

The gun a little thuglet tried to kill my father with. Thankfully he changed his mind when he was looking down the barrel of a 4506. My father cleared the weapon and the slide came off in his hand, the thuglet had jury rigged a broken part. Probably woulda only fired one round.

I have a Llama Omni that's been fine.

I always though they were cool pistols. Of course, its nothing like their 1911-style models. The Omni was an innovative pistol in its day.

My very first .45 Auto was a Llama I bought in 1986. The only thing it shared in common with a 1911 was the barrel and magazine. With that said, I ran lead ball ammo (reloads) through it all the time. I probably put 2000 rounds through it before I sold it (needed money). The few FTFs I had were caused from the reloads. The pistol functioned extremely well. Twenty years later, I have two more Llamas. One is very similar to the one I originally had.....

and the other is actually very much like a 1911.

Llama made several models. They did, at one time, make a Gov't model 1911 clone. They are very hard to find. The Llama pictured above is a Commander-size pistol. Llamas are good pistols, but I believe the STAR model pistols to be a bit better.

At least that Llama has the decensy to screw another Llama, other than someone who owns one of their guns.

He had it sold before he got home so I didn't bother to take any pics. It looked like the 10 shot para ordnance compact. That is what I thought it was at 1st when he handed it to me.
