I know a Glock is a Glock, but since the G36 is the only pistol in the "Slimline", it is a different kind of Glock to me. You really don't hear a whole lot of folks carrying one so I wanted to find a place where folks who do will feel welcome and to try to get some more to join the club.

Why did you choose the G36?

    What were the contributing factors?

    How do you carry it?

Any other information you want to post about the G36, let's lay it out here.

As for me, I chose the G36 because, well, its a Glock! Some of the factors that helped in my decision where of course, caliber. Its a .45 ACP, which is an excellent choice for personal defense. The single stack design made it easier to hold in my smallish hands. And the thinner grip made it super comfortable to conceal carry. It is also a very versitile carry gun. I usually carry it in a paddle holster, but often will conceal in an IWB, a pocket holster, or even an ankle holster. It is a little lacking in number of rounds, but I also carry 2 spare magazines and will be adding a +1 extension on each.

The G36 is my all around gun. Fun to shoot, easy to carry, and good for defending against 2-legged and 4-legged threats. When I go out in the woods, I simply load it up with a heavy flat-nosed FMJ and I am good against the 3 major 4-legged threats around Alabama. Black bear, feral hog, and mountain lion.

That is my reason for this wonderful gun. Who else is in the club?

That sucks! The G30s is absolutely pointless. It is only a G30 with a slim slide. I can't get my hands around the frame of a double stack Glock .45 ACP. I am glad I got me one before they are gone. I haven't had the opportunity to hold one of the SF models yet. I would like to, but I don't see how 2mm in the grip really makes a difference.

On the subject of G36 issues, what are the problems they are encountering? I have had a couple of stovepipes, but that was always a result of limpwristing on my part.

Do you have any facts to support this claim?

  7. Where'd you hear that? Can you provide a link?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Why did you choose the G36? I chose the G36 because of its slimness for concealed carry.

What were the contributing factors? Size, Caliber, Reputation.

How do you carry it? IWB in one of several holsters. MS VM2, Ted Blocker ST17B, Galco Triton (G19 / G23 holster but it fits it and works perfectly.)

  9. New G36 owner here as of 3 weeks ago.

Live in CT, work in Newtown.

Have been carrying a Glock of one flavor or another for the last 18 yrs., most recently the G27, but after the Newtown shootings I'm fully expecting our democrat gov. and democrat majority legislature to enact a ban on magazines over 7 rounds as NY has done.

    That's why I purchased the 36.

I carry it IWB in a Blade Tec Kydex rig and it hides very well.

I have relatively small hands and it fits me very nicely.

Very comfortable to shoot and after two trips to the range and some 400 rounds, no ftf or fte. I did have one BTF.

I got my G36 because I wanted the firepower and a nice concealable package. Bought it back when it first came out, been trouble free for me.

Love my 36! It had a few problems at first, but its because the previous owner (a cop) tried to customize it too much. I took out the stainless guide rod and fixed the extended slide stop (he put the wrong one in and it was causing all kinds of wicked jams). and the problems vanished. Its the lightest and most comfortable carry Glock. If they discontinue it, I'll look forward to the day when I can brag about having one and all the old-timers lament the day they gave theirs up. I will say you know when you've flipped the bang-switch on it! Wow!

Had mine since Nov. 2000. It's thin, light, 45 ACP. I'm used to Glock triggers, and it's a rugged gun.

Been reliable since day one. Carry it most every day.

Yay! It blew up in here...lol. I haven't found any sources saying it will be discontinued. Its a great gun that will find its nitch in areas that limit capacity. I believe NYers will be carrying quite a few of these. Get ready Glock! Time to make some more.

When I bought my G36 a few years ago I weighed the following characteristics:
    size
    weight
    reliability
    slimness
    sight picture
    trigger
    round count
    power
    price
    company reputation

There was absolutely nothing in its league. Currently, there are some guns that come close, but to me the G36 has yet to be topped as a 45acp carry gun

yeah, all the hype is on the XDS right now, but once people realize its not a Glock, they'll leave it alone.
