    The Auburn Spirit..
    Fri, December 4, 2009 12:34:20 PM

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

.... It was a low key day. Alabama was suppose to dismantle
Auburn . Their Heisman candidate had a national stage to take center
    spotlight. But something unexpected happened.

Our tailgate was a fun morning. We hosted many Bama
friends who came by. The food was fabulous; the music was toe tapping,
    and the weather was perfect.

We went to our traditional "Tiger Walk" and cheered the
team and coaches into the stadium- like gladiators into their arena
knowing a hungry undefeated opponent was on the other side pacing and
suiting up for a David and Goliath moment. But something unexpected
    happened.

The sea of orange filled the sun kissed stadium. Every
seat was filled. Our Eagle, Tiger, flew around the tops of our heads and
landed midfield The teams entered to thunderous applause, fanfare and
frenzied fans. Bama fans wore stickers that said " Fear the shutout".
    But something unexpected happened.

Auburn , fueled by the fans and faith of spirit with hard
work, threw everything they had at Alabama . And for 56 minutes Auburn
prevailed. The score, the stats, the noise, the pride- For 56 minutes we
owned it. But something unexpected happened.

Alabama put together a successful last minute drive and
scored the go ahead points. The TV announcers loved the battle for
ratings. No one in the stadium moved. But something unexpected happened.

The Alabama fans stayed and "Sabaned" their victory.
Their band played. Their victory ended a perfect scheduled season. But
    something unexpected happen.

What possibly could be wrong? The Bama fans had suffered,
sweated, cursed, paced and prayed for 56 tortuous minutes and their
team finally pulled it out and won. But what they saw next was not
    suppose to happen...either.

The Auburn family stayed. They were suppose to flee in
defeat but alas the opposite happened. We stayed in our seats and waited
for our team to walk off the field. 80,000 family members escorted them
off with thunderous applause and chants of "It's great to be an Auburn
Tiger". The recruits stayed and watched this family of ours lift up our
team who served up a whole humble pie to #2 Bama.

It reminded me of the scene in "How the Grinch Stole
Christmas" when the Who's in Whoville gathered after their presents and
decorations were missing but lifted their voices loudly anyway to lift
up their gratitude and celebrations. For us it was about thankfulness,
honor, and family. For 56 minutes we were fans, but as our team walked
off the field for a few minutes we were all one family. It was a great
feeling and we had not even won the game...on the scoreboard.

We walked out of the stadium chanting AU cheers down the
ramps. Alabama fans were quiet and shocked. Their Heisman candidate was
disposed of. Their defense was embarrassed. Their haughtiness was
    silent.

I have not mentioned the crudeness and ugliness that I
witnessed or was a part of from Alabama fans prior and during the game.
Their reputation for being rude fans lived on-not pulling for their team
and being good fans but being jerks to others- even to children.
However after the game they were silent. Eerily quiet. One would have
thought they lost the game. The lack of the cries of "Roll Tide" was
    noticeably absent.

But something happened. Auburn continued to make us
proud, played their hearts out, made idiots out of the sports announcers
who proclaimed earlier this was a waste to play, and silenced the
    visiting fans.

Yes, something happened. Auburn won everything but the
scoreboard. This was not suppose to happen!!! Alabama was not suppose to
allow this!! It was just Auburn for goodness sakes, right?? Wrong.

Not a perfect day but an AUsome day. And with already
picking up some of the top recruits in the nation (#8 class in the
nation), a new coaching staff that have eyes of the tiger, and an AU
family ready to support them all, we only have one question- when does
    the 2010 season start?

    ps
Say it aint so Bama fans. lmao! =-P

yeah Right. So did Bammer look passed TN too? The Turds won by a 12-10 score. If TN had made that field goal, your dreams would have been shot. Two close calls for the turds. Bama Aint all that.

    ps
I am willing to bet that you were one of those fans that crapped their pants, booed your own team in both close game (AU & TN). Probably others that I hadnt kept up with. Too bad you guys arent playing the Utes again.

Class. Easiest way to put it. Same as the Tiger players handing the refs the ball rather than throwing or spiking it after each play. Just simple class.

LSU Will MUSCHAMP? Then the Dolphins, then Auburn, then TX.

Auburn played well, i.e. smart, in the first quarter and jumped on Bama. The
3rd touchdown was a nice play as well, the receiver made a good fake and the qb made a good pass.

Your quote about the Heisman might be a little early though. It may have hurt him, true enough, but let's wait 'til Saturday.
I hope Ingram gets it, but if he doesn't, I am hoping the Stanford RB wins.

Would we (Tide fans) prefer to DESTROY everyone by 3 touchdowns? Yes
Did I get upset when it looked like an inferior UT team might pull the upset? Yes.
Did I boo the team at any time? No.

Believe it or not, I want Auburn to win ... UNTIL THEY PLAY ALABAMA. An pairing of 11-0 teams coming into the end of November would be awesome.
I didn't attend either university, but I have freinds that played at each. Good natured joshing takes place, but never the name calling (turds, barnholes, etc...) that goes on on some of the internet sites. I mean, damn... GAME. It's a game.

ETA- Muschamp knows defense, he ought to, he learned it from Saban.

  9. Gotta love the Iron Bowl! Auburn played a great game and was well prepared. Bottom line is they lost, so quit making excuses and saying all that family junk. Is that the same family that was attacking ole Tubby last year? I've heard, "We played a great game", and, "56 minutes we were ahead", till it's getting funny. It's like saying, "I took a plane flight from Atlanta to New York and the plane crashed in New Jersey just 4 minutes from the airport, but all in all, it was a great flight". And as far as rude fans are concerned, you will find that in any college stadium in this great country. We are all freaks about our team and we forget that it's just a GAME. In all those years when Bama was getting beat by the Tigers, guess what, the sun still came up the next morning. So, let's all take a break and watch some basketball- who cares if they win, right?

Ya'll just keep drinking your Cheeze flavored kool-aid and marking up those Moral Victories. Actually, I've been much in support of AU especially since the hiring of HCGC. He's done well, and I expect great things SOON from the plains. Good luck in the Outback Bowl!! He's a real class act actually. Look at Lane Kiffin, the big dummy! I guess he subscribes to the theory of Bad publicity is better than no publicity. What's up with his "hostesses" making recruiting trips? Sounds shady at least.

I guess what Im trying to say is. That everyone said that Auburn would be DOMINATED by Alabama. DIDNT happen! You guys cussed, fussed, *****ed, groan'ed, booed Mcleroy and INGRAM and basicly the entire team. UNDERSTAND that!? (I doubt it) AU DOMINATED Alabama just didnt get the VICTORY! We should be ashamed. But we are not. Pretty Damn good for a fresh coaching staff that people mocked all year. And TN was a laugh. lol! Have a good day and good luck againt TX. Ill be pulling for them. =-P

pss Until Jan. Ill shut up about Bama. You guys are so right and I am so wrong.

    Fumbles Lost 1-0 2-1
    Penalties - Yards 4-26 8-68
    Time of Possession 33:47 26:13

Now, just looking at that, I see Auburn punting more for less per kick, being more penalized, having and losing more fumbles, less passing yards on a lower completion percentage and an interception. Auburn did gain twice as much on the ground on a few less carries. They were ahead the majority of the game. I don't think it classifies as domination though. Note on return yards. Alabama punted/kicked 10 times. Auburn punted/kicked 11. Arenas returned 3 for 113 and Washington returned 6 for 104. I think AU kicked a couple out of bounds. Not sure if Tiffin did, but he did miss a FG.
Take it for what it was- a good game plan by coaches that were thinking. Onside kick, double passes, at least Chizek and his staff realized what they needed to do to have a chance.

  15. "We should be ashamed. But we are not." Yes you should be of your foul mouth and not your team.
"Have a good day and good luck againt TX. Ill be pulling for them." Typical reply. I hope AU destroys Northwestern-btw
"Ill shut up about Bama." We can only dream you would just shut up. I hope your wife grounds you from the computer!
"You guys are so right and I am so wrong." Finally, you get one right!
"AU DOMINATED Alabama" Must not have been watching the same game I was watching as the dominant team is always ahead when the clock hits 00:00
If you want to see domination, pull out your 8 track tape of last years game. That, my friend, was domination. Or, borrow a copy of last week's SEC championship game. That was DOMINATION!

One last word. are you sure that we watched the same game? Or did you listen in on Eli Golds replays? Umm Auburn was ahead the entire game until the last 4 mins. Then You know who got LUCKY and finally pulled ahead.

ps Sure you would pull for AU...... ;-) turd fans hate AU as much as AU hates the turds. Bye bye. I promise/

Game was tied 14-14 for a little while, but the fact that Bama was losing to Auburn when they should have been able to dominate, may have made people not be able to see the game as a whole (yardage, receptions, defensive stops, etc....

As for bye-bye, I doubt it. You'll be back :tongueout:
