My grandfather was a graduate of Annapolis and retired as a Rear Admiral many years ago. He was CO of the USS Tidewater and several other ships (which currently escape my memory).

To those who leave on deployments for months at a time, away from friends and family, I thank you for your service.

    US Navy Parachute Rigger here.

I served the flight Officers each day.
Was present when they changed into flight gear and was present when they returned from flying-and Started griping about their gear!

Best 4 years of my life.

Honestly when you want to do something You should Research it.
    Like when enlisting!

I've seen too many young men and women Unhappy while in uniform.
And low morale isn't good for the military-in that regard.

I looked at Parachute Rigger, Hull Tech, Some more engine ratings and then picked PR.

    I never looked back.

    Never look back.

Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd class (AO2) aboard the Kitty Hawk. I got out in '01 and the thing I truely realized was I'll never have friends again like I had in the Navy. I came home twice in four years cause I missed my family, but since I got out I miss my family I was stationed with. I gained some weight when I got out like a lot of people do but now I'm taking it off so I can go back in the reserves as a Master-at-arms. Depending on how my wife and kids feel about it maybe someday I'll go active again.

Good show! I received my first degree under the EEAP program. By the time I got to the ECP, they wanted a hard science major, so I decided to go back to duty. When I got to a ship a few years later, I met a few Officers who had BS's in soft sciences. Seems the Navy changed course. My bad luck and ill timing. However, I left the Navy with an Assoc. Applied Science, a BS and almost another AS. I retired, picked up another course and went onto a BS Nursing. All on their dime!
