I see that Springfield and Kimber both make a 1911 that is scaled down in size to match the size of 9mm ammo.

Are these pistols much smaller and easier to carry?

    Thanks

I'm not aware of any other manufacturers other than Springfield (with the EMP) scaling down the grip/frame dimensions (fore and aft, along with the slide, mag, extractor, ejector, plunger tube, fp/spring, extractor, grips, etc.)

The Kimber Ultra/CDP Compact, etc., all use standard Officer's frame dimensions for their 9mm variants to the best of my knowledge...

Just about all 9mm 1911s have the same dimensions as the 45ACP version.

the EMP is the only 9mm 1911 that has been scaled down. Kimber just offers 9mm 1911's originally sized for .45's

the EMP is a great carry gun :)

I agree the EMP 9mm is awesome, does the smaller dimensioned grip frame make a big difference? Nope, but it is noticeable.

That is nice. Does it have nightsights or all black sights?

If I saw one of those in 9mm, I'd be tempted to buy it

Thanks. Stock black sights (for the moment). I used white Testors paint on the front sight for contrast. About to drop a Harrison solid trigger (M) and some Trijicon/Meps on it to start carrying it.

    I have 2 Dan Wesson 9mm 1911's.

The black Guardian is new and the Stainless PM-9 I have had for a while and is my favorite gun to shoot.

    Thanks MSGT

I was not sure if the Kimber Aegis was a scaled down frame or not. It does not mention that on the Kimber web site. It does appear that the Kimber is about five ounces heavier than the Springfield EMP.

At the moment I do not own a 1911 and was just curious how the smaller pistols were to carry and shoot.

I usually carry a Kahr PM9 because it is small, easy to carry and I shoot it well.

I agree with you 45 guys that bigger is better but my G30sf is a little on the large side for everyday carry for me ........ I shoot it as well as I do the PM9. I have fired possible scores on qualification courses with both pistols.

I've also got the Dan Wesson PM-9. Best shooting gun I own.
