tc 357 will it shoot 38sp

    I have a Thompson Center Contender pistol (old style) with a 357 mag. barrel. Can I shoot 38 sp. ammo through it? And how about +P ammo?

    Yes, on both accounts. The .38sp is essentially the same round, 1/10th" shorter and lower pressure.

    Yes, you can shoot .38 Special and .38 Special +P out of your Thompson Center pistol chambered in .357 Mag.

    .357 Mag, case 1.29", OAL 1.59", SAAMI 35,000psi
    .38 Special, case 1.155", OAL 1.55", SAAMI 17,000psi
    .38 Special +P,......................, SAAMI 20,000psi

    Yup, shot tons of .38s in mine over the years, just clean the chamber and bore before switching back to magnums.
