Natchez still has Nitrex 1.5-5. Twice cheaper than Millet and twice better.

Personally, between the two, I'd go with the Leupold. Its probably the best, of the starter optics.

Millet, Nitrex etc, are more of a meh.

Built in Japan to Weaver specs. You get what you paid for seems to be pretty ironclad rule in optics. Except for when brands/models get discontinued, people going out of business, etc. Which is the case here. You’re getting $300 scope for less than half the price.

I have three of these scopes (and two Nitrex binos). Nothing "tactical" just good solid scopes. Clear glass edge to edge. They hold zero, are durable and light. Light transmission is excellent, you can use it well into the dusk and at most any indoors illumination level short of pitch black. What is more important (to me) the eye relieve and FOV are rather generous. But no fancy reticules, no exposed turrets, no illumination. When you shop for budget optics you want as few doodads as possible.

At 1.5 they are as fast at room distances as 1X. Meaning not as fast as RDS or even irons but more precise than either. At distances you're most likely to use -74 (i.e. <300yds) you don’t really need BDC reticule or exposed turret.

I have Millet, waste of money in my book. I’m really perplexed at all the stellar reviews it’s getting. I cringe every time I see one on LaRue mount.

One tactically flavored 1-4 scope I would wholeheartedly recommend is Leatherwood. Got mine for around $200 but understand they are closer to $300 these days?
