    Hi,
Anyone own a 3" SW 1911 Pro? I know a few of you are not fond of subcompact 1911. Hoping they have gotten better in the last few years. I'm interested in the new Lew Horton version that just came out. Has the reliability improved since they first came out? I think it might compliment my new CQB.

    Thanks

    Never owned a 3" S&W 1911 but I had a 5" version and it was a great 1911. I would buy a S&W 1911 again in a second :)

I had one, and it was a great gun. Carried and shot very well, accurate and reliable to boot. It was a bit of a handful, but no biggie.

Thanks guys! What do you mean by "a bit of a handful" ? Recoil? I don't mind some recoil. I have no problem handling my XD40sc with a 3" barrel.

Who is Lew Horton, and why should I buy his design?

Well, I just mailed a cashiers check, so I will let you know what I think once all the red tape clears here in NY.:crying: Dealer said the gun was fitted very well with just a little trigger play and better than the last Colt he sold.

Yes, it was a bit snappy with recoil by comparison to full size guns, but nothing that can't be managed. It recoiled less than my Springer XD-S does.

    Congrats on the pickup.

Last week I pulled the trigger & bought the S&W 1911 Pro Series Lew Horton sub compact design 45...
AND BOY AM I SOOOO HAPPY I DID !!!
The gun is beautiful looking & shoots a lot better than I predicted.
Like you I figured because of the heavy round & short 3" barrel that thing would be jumping out of my hand but amazingly it's very manageable.
My only disappointment is that its single action other than that I love it !
