Stupid barrel length question

    If this has been beaten to death before, I apologize in advance. I don't spend much time here anymore.

    If 16-inch barrels are legal on rifles, as are 14.5-inch barrels with permanently attached flash suppressors, why don't we see 16-inch barrels on tactical shotguns? I've only seen 14.5 and 18-inch barrels. Is there such a thing? Is it prohibited? Or is it an overall length issue?

    I would guess that having to jump through all the hoops and pay $200 for a tax stamp to have an SBS would not make a lot of sence if only to take two inches off the lenght of the weapon. If you are going through all that you want a shorter weapon and would most likely go with a 14" or 11' barrel.

    That's my question, sir! Are shotguns different from rifles? 16 inches (rifle) is not an SBR but 16 inches (shotgun) it is an SBS?

    The minimum legal barrel length on a shotgun is 18". Minimum overall is 26".
    Less and you are playing NFA SBS games with the feds.

    I don't know if you even have to worry about gun laws in the middle of the Atlantic ocean but if you come into Canada the overall length just has to be 26". Shotguns with 8 1/2" barrels are common. I want one of these: http://www.canadaammo.com/product.php?productid=173&cat=0&page=1

    A guy at work ordered one. It came with a separate pistol grip only stock that would make the gun prohibited if he installed it. Kind of weird that they included it.

    All handguns in Canada are either prohibited or restricted, but you can
    own one of those legally. That's a nasty looking weapon.

    Yeah we have stupid gun laws. The only reason I don't like the 8.5" one is it only has a two round magazine. The 12.5" barrelled one has a four round tube, has the option of ghost ring sights, and it's cheaper for some reason.

    Probably because it didn't require any modification to the magazine tube and barrel (other than cutting the barrel).

    That could be it. Whatever the reason for the lower price is my order is being processed and I should be recieving my 12.5" late this week or early next.:) I also ordered a Hogue 12" Length Of Pull stock to shorten the whole thing another inch or two. I will post pics and a review when I get it all kitted out as I have never read a review for a Dominion Arms shotgun.

    I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a quick question about importing shotguns into the United States. I know importing Chinese semi-autos is banned, but I heard you can get repeater firearms, or at least pump shotguns. Is this true? In Canada there are few differant Chinese companies offering pump shotguns. Most are pretty decent for the price.

    You can have a 8" bbl shotgun... But I can have 30-rd mags and 75-rd drums for my AK.:tongueout:

    Forget the mags, you can have AKs! I would gladly give up my short barreled shotgun for unpinned mags.

    You can get one with a shorter barrel with a Form 4. The Serbu Super Shorty is only a $5 tax stamp. I have one in the Remmy and love it! The only down side I have found is one supplier of a leg drop holster at a steep $175+s&h.....OUCH!
