Weird question (maybe); I was eating fast food in a parking lot which overlooks a busy intersection. The usual folks had their positions at nearby offramps and onramps to the freeway, with their signs out for "whatever help one could spare". Right below was the most popular corner, occupied by a pretty rough looking guy with a bad limp. He had a duffel bag, approximately 3ft by 1ft wide. The guy wandered off to get food, leaving this bag sitting at the northwest corner of the intersection, right in the middle of the sidewalk. I wasn't initially paying much attention to the whole thing, but this bag really stuck out for some reason, just sitting there for easily 1/2 hour, with lines of traffic on both sides, along with pedestrians passing it- even stepping over it- as it sat there. It was in perfect proximity to lots of people; on foot, in cars, sitting within 50ft of a bus stop, etc. Were this an airport or maybe even train station, I suspect there would be some sort of security or Law Enforcement inquiry about a bag like that, in a fairly conpsicuous spot, unattended.....or I'm paranoid. I notice they always have a cart or bag of some sort for extra clothes/hootch/dope/whatever, and frequently leave them nearby while they beg for stuff. It seems like it would be a great way to set up a mass killing/bombing situation as people get used to seeing stuff like unattended bags or carts at a busy street corner/ intersection, and become comfortable with it. So....I guess my question is, do you get people calling about such things- a suspicious bag that could be something sinister/ IED in association with street corner sign people? Is there a protocol in what leeway the street beggers have with this stuff, and what people should bring to the attention of LE? Wanna kill these ads? We can help!
