I heard those many times growing up. Supersonic military flights were not prohibited there.
Somebody gave Air Force permition to fly as fast as they want without telling Joe Shmoes about that. (Like that never happened before).

    Auroa's fly underground?

It's been going on a while now. I thought it was frozen ground melting unevenly. Ice in a glass does the same thing, but the locals are leaving now? I can't be right as they'd be used to that kind of thing year after year.

That sounds VERY man made. Has the Navy recently set up a new VLF antenna nearby?

OP, "Seismographic equipment hasn't registered it" would appear to be inaccurate given the story at the other end of your link.

I believe that it was from earthquake activity being accelerated by the bed rock. I remember reading about it a while ago.

And by what mechanism would a radio antenna make booms?

IMO, isostatic rebound would be the culprit. It's been around 4000 years since the flood, but it still happens in the Adirondacks.

Yeah, PW once again makes an assertion and is unable to support it. Color me surprised.

We had the same thing here a week and a half ago. Three loud booms a couple of minutes apart. Some people claim to have seen flashes in the sky.The people weren't all in the same area. Some were 2-3 miles apart.
