I only see a type. For Kentucky you said the G34 is a .40S&W. They carry the G35. Other than that it looks like a solid list to me... although I'm not the most knowledgeable about such topics.

Craig - It looks accurate as far as I know. There was a post a while back with a link to Fed. and State agencies and it is what I remember. I know the 357sigs agencies are accurate and PA's GAP. I had not heard of Mississippi carrying 357 sigs though.

Nebraska State Patrol has switched to the Glock 21 SF. I've talked to several troopers here about it and it is statewide.

There have been several instances in the last year where I've noticed some agencies moving from .40 to something else. Kind of interesting.

Not sure how accurate this list is any more but it's a point of cross reference:

I know first hand that AL troopers carry a G22. Might not be incorrect, but I have never seen one carrying a G23.

I thought that to seem a tad strange. Same for AK, showing both the G22 and G23. I'm going to leave it as is for now, at least till it seems someone can verify there are no G23s, especially since the G22 is listed already anyway.

    Thanks for the input.

I remember a much older list. Seems the 357sig is popping up more and more along with the .45GAP and the poor 9mm is all but disappeared. The .40S&W is still dominate though, but starting to lose a little ground.

The .40S&W basically replaced the 9mm, and was a middle ground for LE's that wanted a smaller frame, higher capacity sidearm. and now LE has found a fork in the road as they are either going for the high velocity sig or the wide bore 45.

    What's next, the 5.7FN?

Thank You cowboy1964. I hadn't even got around to looking at the link you posted yet. At any rate, this link appears up-to-date, so consider it changed.

Ok, finally got through comparing every state with the link you provided. It did cause some changes, mostly in platform, like from Glock to SIG to M&P, or whatever. Though your link did cause me to change North Dakota to 357 SIG, with a couple or so other calibers changed too.

WOW, it does not appear one single state allows officers to choose their own sidearm.

I have never understood this. I am required to carry my issued P226 in .40

Luckily for me I like the Sig, but would much prefer to carry a P220R with a light.

Wow, Beretta has sure lost a lot of ground over the last 10, 15 years. Only one, and that's in their home state. :sigh:
