Well a couple of years ago I bought the Taurus PT1911 which we have discussed many a time.

Recently I bought a Dan Wesson CBOB and I also got new grips for both.

Feeling the DW and looking at it I can understand BACs disdain for the PT1911.

There just isn't a comparison. Yes my PT1911 shoots well, is very accurate and feeds anything but the feeling in the hand, the looks, the Oh yes Fit and Finish is just plain crap when compared to the DW.

Since BAC has so many 1911 pistols I take his comments seriously and have finally got to a point where I agree.

The Taurus is really not too great of a pistol.

Consider me converted, sorry it took me a while thanks all.

He praises every other 1911 that people show, so that Taurus must be a real loser!

Dan Wesson and Taurus 1911s are as different as night and day.

You're right, there is no comparison.

IMHO Taurus does not belong in the 1911 group of pistols.

    WHAT?!?!?!?!?
I put thousands of rounds through my PT1911 and it's as accurate as my TGO-1, best thing is that it was 1/5th the price. i don't see spending $$$ for a semi-custom when these just work 100% out of the box.

ok, that was hard to type w/o

never owned a PT1911, and don't plan too

Man you had me going didn't see the spaces. I got back on my computer just to respond.

It isn't that my PT1911 doesn't shoot great it is just the feeling you get when you hold a higher quality pistol, it's almost Romantic . It is pretty indescribable and it took me a few months to figure that out.

To be honest I haven't had a range session yet with the DW without a failure but I only have about 300 rounds through it so I am going to give a few hundred more.

Laugh all you want, but my PT1911 is every bit as accurate as a Wilson/NH/EB/LB, etc. I know you peeps don't want to hear it, but it's true!!

Sorry - I just wanted to get in on a little bit of the fun...

Care to elaborate? I bet whatever is causing the problem is an easy fix.

All of mine have been flawless right out of the box.

As far as starter guns go, I do like the PT1911. I think it is as good as any price-comparable used Kimber, Springfield, 1911A1 etc....

and by your twisted logic seen in every taurus thread that means that all Taurus 1911s are great, and all DW 1911s are bad, right?
