I have a stainless barrel on my Makarov and recently thought about looking for a chemical designed to blacken it. The only thing I could turn up on a search was a product by Caswell. I couldn't find anything at Brownell's.

If anyone has any experience with a product they would recommend, let me know. Thanks.

  3. From those on the M1 Garand board it works decent. It has to be touched up and isn't as durable as other finishes but it's not bad. I haven't used it personally. It's used on the gas cylinder of the M1 Garand which is stainless, the original process is extremely hazardous but the blackener is a decent substitute.
